This week news......
Vodafone avenge only defeat of season with 4-0 cup win over Purestone...
Goals from Mike C, Alex (2) and Sean C.
Vodafone 2nd in league, with massive game v Q Associates next week.....
--------------------------------
Sunday 27th September:
VODAFONE returned to winning ways with a fine 3-2 win over WKD. Alex (2) and a crisp Mike C half volley gave the reds a 3 nil lead before the WKD response came in the 2nd half. A late howler from Scud looks to have guarenteed the toilet seat award for this year (and saved Sean's blushes), but at 1-0 he pulled off 2 top drawer saves to keep our noses in front. 4 games in the reds have notched up as many league wins as in the whole of last season
Next weeks game away v Thatcham Red Sox.

----------------------------------------------
13/9 - VODAFONE followed up their opening day win with a 5-2 away win at Monty's. Bealy opened the scoring with a finely taken volley, Sean C scored a "perfect hattrick" and Dergs netted after the move of the match. Desperate to keep a 2nd clean sheet the 2 goals came in the 2nd half...
-----------------------------------
6/9 - VODAFONE kicked off the 2009-10 season on Sunday September 6th with a resounding 8-0 win over Falkland. Some smooth passing football ripped their opponents to pieces with a solid defensive display ensuring a first clean sheet since early 2008.

7. July March-Anzeiger (local newspaper)
For most of the 1000 footballers and hobby-players who were fighting in six categories for the Group win from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, there was a lot of sporty ambition - even so for the 11 players from "Vodafone FC" who flew especially to Lachen from Newbury, England. Contact to the team, who play in a local football league in the small English town, was initiated through Reto Weber. The Lachner worked for the telecommunication company Vodafone in England and even played in the Vodafone FC team.
The English enjoyed their stay in Lachen and were able to impress in the Group games. But in 1/8 Final that was played on Sunday, it was the end of the success road for them. "After such a hard weekend we were slightly tired. Perhaps due to the Swiss Beer that tasted really good" explained Matt Hall, the Team Captain - with a big smile on his face! He and his team player highly rated the tournament. "We don't have competitions like this in England" he said. "Back home it's either Football or party - but not both together".
Matt Hall promised that in 3 years time they will be back in Lachen to play again. But this time to win!
"we're not going to let you Swiss show us how it's done twice" said Hall.

FC Weesen

100% goal scorer for Vodafone Retinho with Matt the natural talented goal scorer!

Vodafone FC - FC Weesen 4:1

Tuesday 7.30 pm - 8.30/9pm
Astroturf training at Trinity School run by Matt Skeath good session on really good astroturf.
Thursday 7-8pm
Starting from October 4th at Henwick Sports.
VODAFONE kick off the 2009-10 season on Sunday September 6th.
A new home ground at Bradfield will give the Vodaboys a lush playing service on which to demonstrate their skills and remove any excuses for missing those easy goalscoring chances!
Despite a couple of losses to the squad (Nelly G and Garry K) we have acquired several new players, with Mo looking sharp and wirey upfront, Darren and Mike C's mate strenghening the defence and Skud coming into challenge for the #1 jersey.
We hope the new additions will also hope lower the average age of the squad as it grows ever older! A vicious rumour suggests the gaffer himself will hit a significant milestone in the very near future....
A few friendlies are already in (Monday 3rd, Thursday 6th, 13th) but we are keen to arrange more so if you have any ideas let the management team know asap...
